I Will Teach You to be Rich

By Ramit Sethi

Like my recent read of The Simple Path to Wealth, I was interested in personal finance advice. Again, there was nothing revolutionary. Some of the fine details are different in this one compared the to previous book, but they mostly agree with each other and with what I’ve already been doing. It was another point of agreement against paying down a sub 3% mortgage when that money could be invested to significantly outpace the interest lost. I appreciate that his approach includes a deliberate cutout for guilt-free spending. It’s not just saving like a robot to maximize a number, it’s about actually enjoying it. It’s helpful to be reminded that if all of the other numbers are where I know they should be (savings, investments, etc.) that I don’t need to feel bad about spending money that is left over.
