I didn’t know going into it that it was bible based. The bible is not a credible source of guidance to me, but the book was still pretty agreeable. I don’t recall anything groundbreaking and new, but it was still helpful. I appreciated the reminders about how to apply boundaries and the consequences for not using them correctly. The stories of other people experiencing boundary problems were good. It was easy to relate to them and it’s easier to recognize the boundary problems as a spectator than as the person stuck in the drama. A section about transference problems with authority figures inspired me to engage in some IFS-type work with my therapist. I don’t know how she’d respond to all of the bible references, but conceptually, it’s a book that I wish my mom would read and internalize.
